There will always be a positive approach
I was reading about trauma, and some important information struck me. Since reading and learning more about the impact of trauma, when I see someone doing something unusually and alarmingly, I am schooling myself to ask, “What happened to them?” instead of “What is wrong with them?”
Changing the question is a massive shift. It opens the possibility of learning about what might help us through the situation. It shows respect for the other person’s past life challenges and sets the stage for a positive approach.
We are fortunate to have several staff members who are certified in the empowering ABC Intervention method. This approach, which stands for Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up, offers three levels of certification for newborns, infants, and toddlers. It equips parents with the tools to navigate challenging behaviors in their children, unleashing their love, curiosity, and ability to create positive connections. It’s truly a remarkable journey of growth and understanding!
We are proud to share a video on the ABC Intervention featuring our very own Zoreida Figueroa, a Special Instructor in our Birth to Three program. Click here to watch this insightful video. We would love to hear your thoughts on this blog and invite you to show your appreciation for our Early Intervention Staff by completing this short form. Your feedback means a lot to us!
